The New York Giants have been absolutely destroyed with injuries, and it showed in their week one lost to the supposedly lowly Washington Redskins. This means one of two things. Are the Redskins better than everyone thought? And will the Giants rebound?
To answer the first question. I don’t think the Redskins are better than we all thought- and I still think they’ll finish in the bottom of the league in m ost categories. They’ll have a top 10 pick and likely won’t be relevant in the playoff chase. I think the Giants played that poorly.
Question 2- can the Giants rebound? I don’t know. I don’t feel very confident that they will if they don’t get healthy. They’re missing several key players in key positions and that really showed this week. The Giants are in the NFC east and it’s going to be a battle this year. As bad as the Cowboys fell apart, they’re light years better than the Giants right now- and of course the Eagles are a lot of people’s super bowl pick so it’s hard to say the Giants are going to survive those two teams this year if they don’t get healthy. It’s an unfortunate start for a team primed to return to form this year- and it could actually cost Tom Coughlin his job. It’ll be interesting to see what’ll happen from here for the G-men.
