It appears the Jaguars pass defense will be without one of its best players on Sunday.
According to Mark Long of the Associated Press, Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said that defensive back Derek Cox would be listed as doubtful if the injury report came out today.
Cox left the Titans game on Sunday after injuring his ribs while attempting to make an interception along the sidelines. Before the injury Cox was playing well as he kept Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt in check, it was after Cox left the game that Britt had his two touchdown receptions.
If Cox cannot play against the Jets on Sunday they will likely use William Middleton in his place. The Jaguars could also use two former Jets, Drew Coleman and Dwight Lowery, to help fill in.
The Jaguars also held defensive end Aaron Kampman and tight end Marcedes Lewis out of practice on Wednesday.
Kampman is still wearing a knee brace after his surgically repaired knee swelled up on him last week and the timetable for his return is uncertain. Lewis strained his calf during the Titans game and will sit out until Friday when he will see if he can go this weekend.
