As if losing Eric Berry for the season wasn’t already bad enough, the Kansas City Chiefs may have to deal with another serious injury to one of their star players–running back Jamaal Charles.
Charles was carted off the field after suffering a serious knee injury during the team’s first drive against the Detroit Lions on Sunday and from what it seems like–it doesn’t look good for the Chiefs top rusher. As Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com describes it, Charles suffered the injury while trying to extend the ball for a first down and his left foot came landed awkwardly on the orange first-down marker.
Despite struggling last weekend against the Detroit Lions, Charles is a key factor to the Chiefs’ offense and losing him for a significant amount of time would be a huge setback for the defending AFC West champions. Charles finished with 1,935 yards from the line of scrimmage last season so hopefully–this injury isn’t as serious as it seems.
