The Philadelphia Eagles Will Win The NFC East
It is a bold statement, especially after one dominating performance. Here is the deal, the Eagles are simply the best team in the division. On top of that, the NFC East leading N.Y. Giants have a brutal, and I mean brutal, schedule in front of them.
Let us just take a look at the next three weeks. Big Blue travels to New England to play an angry Patriots team coming off a stinging loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. No NFL team wants to be in that position. Next, the Giants go cross country to face the surprise of the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers will be coming off a road trip, matching them up against the free falling Washington Redskins. San Francisco is for real and will be a seriously tough opponent. Then, it’s the game of the week: Eagles vs Giants on Big Blue’s home turf. That is a battle that will have huge ramifications.
The Birds next two, before the Giants game, are interesting match-ups. First, the Eagles will play the Chicago Bears at the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field. It will be a tough game, no doubt. The Bears always “get up” when facing the Eagles. Then, the Arizona Cardinals fly across the country in Kevin Kolb’s triumphant return. Kolb will have a ton to play for. The Eagles could have a let down.
The reason why I believe the Eagles will win the next two, improving to 5-4 is as such: the Eagles not only crushed the Dallas Cowboys in prime-time, they learned how this team can play at their peak. The coaching staff learned a great deal about themselves and their players. They found the jet fuel for their high performance race car.
I strongly believe the Giants will be either, 6-3 or 5-4, coming into the Eagles game. In that case, the division lead will be on the line.
The rest of the schedule heavily favors the Birds. Take a look. The Giants will still have the New Orleans Saints, the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys, twice. The Eagles biggest challenge will be the New England Patriots and maybe the Cowboys re-match.
Book it right here, today. I am buying into the Eagles. This team has too much talent. This team has too much pride. This team has the best sports fans in the nation. Andy Reid will be vindicated and our Super Bowl run will commence as a 10-6 division winner…………..just as I predicted in the pre-season.
