Dallas Cowboys Place Kicker David Buehler on IR, Re-Sign Guard Daniel Loper
The Dallas Cowboys fixed a claustrophobia roster problem on Thursday by placing kicker David Buehler on Injured Reserve (IR). Buehler has been battling the injury bug all season while undrafted rookie kicker Dan Bailey is breaking Cowboys franchise field goal kicking records. Now the Cowboys no longer have to carry three kickers on the active roster. Offensive guard Daniel Loper was re-signed to replace Buehler.
The Cowboys have found a franchise kicker in Bailey while Buehler hasn’t even been able to compete for the job. Fellow undrafted rookie kicker Kai Forbath practiced kickoffs during practice on Thursday, so the Cowboys still may have two kickers on the active roster against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
