Prior to the big New York Jets vs. New York Giants matchup at MetLife Stadium Saturday, the two teams have released their list of inactive players.
The biggest name on the Jets’ inactive list is defensive back Marquice Cole, a special teams standout who will miss his second straight game due to a knee injury.
Defensive back Gerald Alexander is also inactive for the Jets, along with third-string quarterback Kevin O’Connell, rookie nose tackle Kenrick Ellis, offensive lineman Austin Howard, and receiver Eron Riley.
Defensive lineman Ropati Pitoitua is a surprise inactive for the Jets as well. He had been practicing all week with a hand injury but he will not play today.
That means the Jets have four running backs active today, with second-year man Joe McKnight toughing it out through a hyperextended right elbow and separated right shoulder.
Rookie running back Bilal Powell is active, just in case McKnight is limited. Shonn Greene will carry most of the load with LaDainian Tomlinson expected to play a big role as well.
The Giants will be without starting tight end Jake Ballard and wide receiver Mario Manningham. Both of them will sit out with respective knee injuries.
Among the other big names on the Giants’ inactive list are defensive end Osi Umenyiora and rookie linebacker Mark Herzlich.
The Jets and Giants are set to kick off at 1:00 pm on Fox.
