New York Jets’ Darrelle Revis, Nick Mangold, and D’Brickashaw Ferguson Named AFC Pro Bowlers
The NFL has released their 2012 Pro Bowl rosters, and three New York have made the AFC team this season.
Cornerback Darrelle Revis, offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson (#60, above) and center Nick Mangold (#74, above) have all been selected to play in this year’s All-Star game, which will take place on January 29, 2012.
The usual suspects, so to speak. Revis, a fifth-year pro, has made his fourth straight Pro Bowl appearance. He will start at cornerback alongside Champ Bailey of the Denver Broncos.
Mangold, a sixth-year pro, made his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance. He was selected as a reserve this year after battling a nagging ankle injury nearly all season.
Ferguson, also in his sixth season, made his third straight Pro Bowl and will also be a reserve. Some would say he wasn’t particularly worthy this year, but it makes up for his snub in 2008, I suppose.
That being said, there are a few deserving Jets players who did not get a Pro Bowl nod. Later in the week I’ll run down some Jets players who deserved a spot and some who didn’t.
It’s a nice recognition for the players that made it, but it’s no substitute for a playoff berth and a Super Bowl run. Barring a miracle on Sunday, the Jets will have to wait another year for that.
