Arizona Cardinals Discussing Bringing Back Todd Haley

As soon as he was fired from his job as head coach of the Chiefs, Todd Haley’s name was immediately mentioned as a possibility to return to the Cardinals by fans and media alike. According to Kent Somers of Arizona Republic, there is a distinct chance of Hailey returning to Arizona before next season.

Here is a portion of Somers story describing the situation a bit more in detail.

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt is expected to talk to former Chiefs coach Todd Haley about a position on the Cardinals coaching staff, according to NFL sources.
Haley, the Cardinals offensive coordinator from 2007 through 2009, was fired by the Chiefs in December when the Chiefs had a 5-8 record. Haley was 19-27 as a head coach and his Chiefs team won the AFC West title in 2010.
Haley and Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt have been friends for years, and Haley was offensive coordinator in 2008 and 2009 when the Cardinals won consecutive NFC West titles.
It should be interesting to see what Whisenhunt decides on with his staff if he does indeed hire Haley because there really isn’t an opening for him at the moment. Every single coach on the staff is expected to return, including Mike Miller, who took over the offensive cordinator’s job after Haley left.
If there are no changes to the staff during this offseason, Whiz would more than likely have to create a position on the staff in order to add Haley as one of his coaches. Somers stated that article he wrote this evening.
Personally, I have always been a fan of Haley’s. Arizona’s offense has not been the same since he left, although the retirement of Kurt Warner has had a lot to do with that. Still though, Haley could light a fire under some of the Cardinals young players on the offensive side of the football, including a guy like Kevin Kolb, who will be heading into a career defining season.
