Jimmy Graham: New Orleans Saints' Rising Star

By Alejandro Aviles

Tight End Jimmy Graham finished the season with 99 receptions, 1,310 receiving yards,
and 11 touchdowns and is proving to be the next rising star for the New Orleans
Saints. The NFL record for receiving yards for tight ends was well in reach for
Graham and was only 18 yards short of setting the new record. Unfortunately for
Graham, New England Patriots’ tight end, Rob Gronkowski finished the season
with 1,327 receiving yards, breaking Kellen Winslow Sr.’s previous record of
1,290 yards set in 1980. Nevertheless, Graham had a phenomenal season for the
Saints and became quarterback Drew Brees’s favorite target throughout the
season.

Graham’s season was so good that he was selected to his first pro-bowl and saw his receptions increase to 99 versus
last season where he only had 31. Furthermore, Graham led all Saints players
with receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns; not too bad for an athlete
who is new to the game of football. Graham, a former college basketball player,
has made a giant leap in his progression and has become one of the best tight
ends in the NFL. There is no doubt that Graham is a rising star for the Saints
and is proving to be a rising star in the NFL.
