Bob Sanders is not even with the Chargers..??? He was a free-agency experiment that didn’t work out and NOBODY expects him to return. He is retiring after a great but unfortunately short career. He would’ve been a fantastic addition to the Chargers if he could stay healthy…agree some help at safety is needed through the draft though..

Drafting a safety would make them younger, and add depth to a position that does not have a reliable replacement. Vincent Jackson is an unrestricted free agent, Nick Hardwick may not come back, San Diego has other offensive line issues like retirement talk and a major injury that may cost Marcus McNeill his career. San Diego needs to re-sign Jackson, or go after another free agent wide receiver if they cannot re-sign him, so once they do that and fix their offensive line problems, they may not have money to go after a free agent safety. I know management said they do not want to commit too much money to one position, but most if not all of the receivers available who would keep San Diego competitive will cost a lot of money. Rivers is coming off a season in which he was tied for third in the NFL in interceptions, so losing Jackson and having a group of receivers consisting of Floyd, Brown and an unproven rookie would more than likely make things worse.
