One Titans Player Retires as Two More Are Re-signed

By Stephanie Umek

Derrick Mason, former Titans receiver, made an announcement on January 10 that he will retire. After 15 years in the NFL he totaled 943 receptions for 12,061 yards and had 66 touchdowns. He played for the Titans from 1197-2004 he received  two Pro-Bowl trips and recorded the fifth-highest reception total in franchise history with 453 receptions. He also received the second-highest combined yardage total with 11,202 yards.

His career high game came on October 12,2003 when he caught six passes for a total of 177 yards and a career-high of three touchdowns.

So far this week two more Titans players have been re-signed to future contracts. Both of these gentlemen are free agents and hope to do some promising to the team. Will Ta’ufo’ou is a linebacker from California whom attended University of California. He has since had time with the Bears, Browns and Broncos throughout the 2009-2011 seasons.

Lawrence Wilson is out of Connecticut and has spent some time with the Carolina Panthers practice squad in 2011.

All of these free agents are grand that are getting signed to future contracts but what about guys on the team that are fully useful and have yet to see any re-signing. Barrett Ruud, Tim Shaw, Akeem Ayers? They haven’t had the best years, but why not get them in the game more to make the defense stronger, it’s not like the offense could get any worse, but the Offensive Coordinator’s position is another whole issue.

What do you think Ranters? Who is on the Depth Chart that YOU think should get signed to a Future Contract?
