New York Giants Officially Release Brandon Jacobs Due to Contract Dispute

Unable to come to terms with a restructured deal, the New York Giants have officially released Brandon Jacobs.

According to another tweet from Garafolo, the Giants will save $5 million of the $7 million cap number Jacobs would have put on the team. His signing bonus was prorated at $2 million, which will still count for the Giants in 2012.

Brandon Jacobs is the franchise leader with 56 touchdowns, and will finish his Giants career with 4,849 yards, fourth in franchise history.
