Peyton Mannning to meet with the Dolphins after Broncos/Cards
Dolphin fans are waiting and watching, as Peyton Manning speed dates his way through a few of the teams that are flirting with him.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald has reported that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, General Manager Jeff Ireland, and 1st year coach Joe Philbin plan on meeting with Manning after he returns from meeting with the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals, who, along with the Dolphins, are the top contenders in the race to enlist Manning’s services.
Manning met with Broncos VP of Operations and others on Friday and is slated to meet with the Arizona Cardinals next.
Several other teams are still hoping to get Manning to listen to their pitch, including Seattle, Kansas City, and the Washington Redskins, who just traded up to the number 2 pick in the draft, presumably to take Heisman winner Robert Griffin III. According to ESPN’s Adam Shefter, the Redskins are still hoping to talk with Manning and convince him to play in D.C. Griffin told the media at the Combine that he would have no problem holding a clipboard behind Manning.
Sources have stated that Manning plans on making a decision within a week and the speed with which he landed in Denver does nothing but support this. If anything, teams should be worried about Manning spending an extra day in Denver when he is supposed to be under such a tight schedule.
Dolphin fans everywhere are hopeful that Manning is just saving the best for last.
