It is rumored that the Indianapolis Colts are working on a deal that would send Dwight Freeney to the New York Jets for a third round pick, which was tweeted here:
If this information is true, a few things are more certain than they were before. First, the Colts will have freed up a lot of cap space with their recent moves, and the rebuilding phase will be in full effect. Second, Robert Mathis, who just signed a deal this week, has to be very discouraged. The Colts have shown in the past week that they are not afraid of change and if they feel like this is the way to get results then they should do it.
All the recent changes in Indianapolis have opened doors for opportunity. In life, opportunity is the way to make a name for yourself. Colts fans need to look at Arian Foster; he had an opportunity and ran with it- literally. He was an undrafted free agent and is now an All-Pro running back that just signed a big contract.
I know it seems grim for Colts fans but all these changes can bring different players, players that may get results. I mean let’s be serious; the Colts only won two games last year, how much worse can it get?
Dwight Freeney will be a trade option, either now or on draft day, so expect the Colts to deal him at some point. As of right now the talks between the Colts and the Jets could be just a silly rumor.
