Brandon Marshall trade may mean Peyton Manning is coming to Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins traded wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the Chicago Bears for a reported two 3rd round draft picks. The move could very well signify the Dolphins feelings that the sometimes troubled wide receiver would not mesh well with Peyton Manning and his style of play. The move could also be a tactic to make room for Reggie Wayne. Wayne, Manning and Dallas Clark have all been rumored as a package deal so the trade of Marshall clears the way for all three to make South Florida their permanent residence.

(UPDATE): The New York Post broke news early this morning of a possible reason why the Dolphins were so eager to ship Marshall off for two third round draft picks. According to the NY Post, Marshall got into a brawl outside a Chelsea nightclub where a woman was present and “allegedly slugged the woman”. Though Marshall’s attorney is stating it was Marshall’s wife who was hurt, the New York post cites statements from police which indicate “the only report filed about that night names Marshall as a perpetrator.”

So, it may not mean Peyton is coming to Miami after all. If anything, the fact Reggie Wayne has now signed with the Colts could have just killed any chances of Manning going to the Dolphins. With no receiving options and very few free agent names at wide receiver, the Dolphins are in quite the predicament. Manning is scheduled to meet with the Tennessee Titans next and could be swayed by the state where he played his college football.
