Pierre Garcon Joins The Washington Redskins
According to reports, Pierre Garcon, famed wide receiver for the Indianpolis Colts, has announced that he will sign with the Washington Redskins. This begins the dismantling of the Peyton Manning era in Indy. Here’s the statement Garcon released on his Facebook Page:
“I wanted you all to hear it from me 1st before u saw it on the news… I will be signing with the Washington Redskins and I’m very excited about the opportunity in front of me. I want to thank all Colts fans from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support you’ve shown me the past 4 years and I hope that at some level u will still follow my career, as I will continue to share my life with you on here…”
Garcon joins what could be a new era for the Washington Redskins. He brings an excellent record of 188 catches for 2,519 yards and 16 touchdowns. According to a post on Rotoworld.com, the Colts were still in talks with Garcon over the weekend. However, that didn’t stop him from becoming a free agent. ESPN I also want to say that this is valid proof the Redskins know that they have to provide a solid selection of wide receivers for RG3, which is pretty much a gurantee at this point. I like it-this is a great spot for Garcon to be if he’s not going to be with Peyton Manning.
As I’ve said before, the Redskins storyline is the storyline to follow. What the Redskins do has a ripple effect throughout the NFL right now. However, if the Redskins are playing their cards right, this could be just the beginning. With the arrival of RG3 on the horizon, Garcon could give them the credibility in the free agent market they need to attract even more talent to the team. And right now, with the Redskins salary cap docked 36 million dollars for dropped salaries in 2010, they could use all the help they could get. Besides, after the Colts jumped the shark and let Peyton Manning go, who thought his receivers would stick around? I think that’s a no-brainer. Good luck to the Colts, because we’re going to enjoy having Garcon on the roster.
