Mario Manningham to Visit San Francisco 49ers on Thursday

New York Giants Super Bowl hero Mario Manningham could be out the door soon; he plans to meet with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, three teams have come to the forefront for Manningham’s services. They are the 49ers, Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills.

It has always felt like the Giants would not be able to re-sign Manningham, both in a dollars sense and due to lack of playing time behind two stud wide receivers.

I’m talking about Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz of course, who combined for over 2,700 yards last season. Manningham was expected to have a breakout season with Steve Smith signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, but that took a wrong turn when Manningham had to sit on the sidelines as Cruz broke out in week three against those same Eagles.

Cruz ended up shattering the old record for receiving yards in a season, and seemingly gives the Giants the luxury of not breaking the bank if Manningham wants to return.

Unfortunately that means other suitors are out there and willing to give him the big bucks as well as a prominent role in their offense.

Manningham put his odds on returning at 50/50; hopefully the Giants can pull off a miracle and bring him back.
