The Washington Redskins have signed former Patriots and Bears safety, Brandon Meriweather. The 2 time pro bowler played in 11 games last season with Chicago, starting four. Meriweather, 28, visited Washington Thursday and was scheduled to meet with the Jets later in the day.
Both safety positions quickly turned into priority needs when the Redskins released Oshiomogo Atogwe, and the uncertainty of Laron Landry future with the team.
According to Jason La Confora of NFL Network, Meriweather signed for a 2 year $6 million deal, which makes this a low risk signing. Meriweather has a ton to prove, as he wore out his welcome in New England and didn’t have a great season with Chicago. However, with this being a low risk, the Redskins are hoping he can return to pro bowl form, if not better.
