As of midnight, April 1st, “New Era” became the exclusive hat company of the NFL. On April 26th, NFL Draftees will sport their teams 59FIFTY New Era cap, while agents, family, and friends will wear 9FIFTY Snapbacks and 39THIRTY stretch fit caps.
It truly is fitting that New Era has partnered with the NFL. For the first time in a decade, Reebok is being replaced by Nike as the exclusive National Football League apparel company. The NFL is literally headed into a New Era, in the fashion world at least.
The highly anticipated wait is hours away from being over, as Nike will introduce the uniforms they’ve created on April 3rd in a converted Brooklyn warehouse. The rumors and predictions of how drastic, or non-drastic Nike will alter NFL uniforms will soon become reality.
NFL fans have complained for years about how conservative teams uniforms and apparel is. Nike is known for adding a certain flair and unique look to the sports/teams they design for. So with the National Football League being the world’s most profitable sports league, it will be interesting to see what tweaks Nike will administer.
Retailers have already piled up orders for the new Nike Apparel that will go on sale April 26th, the first day of the NFL Draft. “Initial response to the product has been great,” Nike Brand President, Charlie Denson told analysts in a Mar. 22 conference call, “and orders so far have exceeded all of our expectations.”
“We think that Nike will reinvigorate the NFL franchise,” Foot Locker Chief Executive, Ken Hicks told analysts in a March 2 conference call. “And we’ve seen the merchandise. It looks very, very good and very exciting.”
NFL fans may have to wait a few more weeks for the new Nike jerseys, but the brand has officially released new shirts and shorts for each team. Nike is known for creating some of the most comfortable shirts and they’re are selling quickly!
