On Wednesday, the NFL released the 2012 preseason schedule for all 32 teams. The Atlanta Falcons are loaded with talent but never seem to utilize it properly. They kick off the 2012 preseason with two tough home games and then finish up with two easier road games.
Here’s a look at the Falcons’ 2012 preseason schedule:
Week 1: Baltimore Ravens
Week 2: Cincinnati Bengals
Week 3: at Miami Dolphins
Week 4: at Jacksonville Jaguars
These games don’t mean as much as the regulars season because most teams tend to only play their starters for the first half at the most.
The Falcons fell back down to earth in 2011 after their surprising 13-3 record and early playoff exit the year before. Matt Ryan and Co. sneaked into the playoffs as a Wild Card and then got blasted by the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants 24-2.
Heading into 2012, Atlanta knows it has the talent to contend for a Super Bowl, so the bottom line this year is similar to the slogan of Nike, the NFL’s new outfitter: Just Do It. There are no more excuses for the Falcons this year; they simply have to utilize all that talent and execute their X’s and O’s on both sides of the ball to become a contender in 2012.
