On Wednesday, the NFL released the 2012 preseason schedule for all 32 teams. The Carolina Panthers are looking to build on the momentum created by their superstar quarterback, 2011 Rookie of the Year Cam Newton.
Here’s a look at the Panthers’ 2012 preseason schedule:
Week 1: Houston Texans
Week 2: Miami Dolphins
Week 3: at New York Jets
Week 4: at Pittsburgh Steelers
These games don’t mean as much as the regulars season because most teams tend to only play their starters for the first half at the most.
Last season was proof that Panthers receiver Steve Smith is still alive; he put up stellar numbers with Newton throwing him the ball. The rookie passer put up some nice stat lines as well, setting several records for first-year quarterbacks in the NFL.
Now Carolina is looking for something bigger, though. The Panthers know the NFC South is more vulnerable this year with the turmoil surrounding the New Orleans Saints and guys like Newton and Smith are looking to take advantage of it.
