On Wednesday, the NFL released the 2012 preseason schedule for all 32 teams. The Detroit Lions took the step they were supposed to in 2011 – they put up huge numbers and made the playoffs. Now Detroit is looking to contend for a Super Bowl heading into the 2012 season.
Here’s a look at the Lions’ 2012 preseason schedule:
Week 1: Cleveland Browns
Week 2: at Baltimore Ravens
Week 3: at Oakland Raiders
Week 4: Buffalo Bills
These games don’t mean as much as the regulars season because most teams tend to only play their starters for the first half at the most.
The Lions’ regular season schedule will be a little tougher this year since they were a playoff team in 2011. However, the buzz in Detroit is incredible. Lions fans are so excited about the upcoming NFL season they can hardly sit still.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford became the fourth 5,000-yard passer in NFL history this year while throwing nearly a quarter of his yards to Calvin Johnson, who became the richest receiver in league history this off-season. Now that they’ve had some playoff experience and their wallets are full, the Lions are ready to take the next step in 2012.
