The NFL announced the 2012 preseason schedule slate on Wednesday and the Green Bay Packers have some interesting matchups. The team finished last season 15-1, but bowed out of the playoffs early at the hands of the New York Giants. Aaron Rodgers and company are looking forward to getting back to their winning ways and potential bringing another title to Titletown.
Week 1: San Diego Chargers
Week 2: Cleveland Browns
Week 3: Cincinnati Bengals
Week 4: Kansas City Chiefs
The Packers played the Chargers and the Chiefs in the regular season last year. They took out the Chargers in San Diego, but fell to the Chiefs for their only regular season loss of the season. I doubt Green Bay will have revenge on their mind, but you never know. Preseason is meaningless until someone gets hurt, so Green Bay’s best bet is to survive without any significant injuries.
Green Bay will be looking to work their draft class into the team and should give plenty of time to young players. We have no idea who Green Bay’s class will be, but they will be expected to contribute on the defensive side of the ball. The lack of pass rush hurt the Packers all season long and they will need to find someone to pair with Clay Matthews.
If Green Bay survives this slate without any injuries, they will be one of the teams to beat. They slowed down last year at the end of the season, but they won’t make that mistake again. Look for the Packers to dominate again, but this time take home a Super Bowl trophy.
