The New Orleans Saints preseason schedule was released today and they will first take on the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game. The game will take place on August 5th at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Furthermore, the game will be nationally televised on the NFL network. This is the fifth time the Saints will play in a Hall of Fame Game; a game played the day after the Hall of Fame class has been enshrined. Among those being enshrined include William Roaf; former Tackle for the Saints. After the Hall of Fame Game the remaining opponents for the Saints all come from the AFC (3 from the AFC South) and the games go as followed:
Week 1: New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium
Week 2: New Orleans Saints vs. Jacksonville Jaguars at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Week 3: New Orleans Saints vs. Houston Texans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Week 4: New Orleans Saints at Tennessee Titans at LP Field
Besides the Hall of Fame Game, the game against the Houston Texans will also be nationally televised on August 25th on CBS. The preseason games really do not mean much in terms of a team’s record, but they are a good gauge for finalizing the rosters. Furthermore, the Saints will be able to develop some chemistry with a new interim coach, if Sean Payton’s appeal is not approved that is. Also, the preseason will give the Saints a chance to work new signees into the mix such as Ben Grubbs and Chris Lofton. The Saints have had a busy offseason with all of the off the field drama so I am sure they will be looking forward to getting back on the gridiron.
