2012 NFL Draft: Louisiana-Lafayette Tight End Ladarius Green Had A Private Workout With The New Orleans Saints
According to a report by Scout.com, tight end Ladarius Green had a private workout with the New Orleans Saints. Green is one of the top tight end prospects in this year’s NFL draft after spending all 4 years of his college career at Louisiana-Lafayette. At Louisiana-Lafayette Green posted career totals of 2,202 receiving yards, 148 receptions, and 22 touchdowns. If the Saints could get Green with their 3rd round pick it would be an absolute steal because Green’s stock is rising as a result of a good combine. Green has the makings to be a very good tight end as he stands at 6’6″ and weighs 239 pounds.
When I think about it he reminds me a lot of superstar tight end Jimmy Graham. Can you imagine if the Saints are able to draft Green? They would boast one of the strongest tight end combinations in the NFL. It would be an absolute nightmare for defenses to try and defend against these tight end “towers.”
Green would give the Saints some versatility in their receiving corps because of his size and speed. Green could also play wide receiver because he is so fast and he has great hands; this guy could turn into a star receiver because it would be very hard to defend him. Green creates many mismatches for defenses and the Saints could utilize him as another offensive weapon, much like they do with Graham.
However, there is the chance that since Green’s stock has risen so much he might not fall to the Saints with the 90th overall pick. Furthermore, in the same report filed by Scout.com it was said that Green also had private workouts with the Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns and he met with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If the Saints could draft Green he would give them another great weapon in the receiving corps and Green would only develop playing with Graham and quarterback Drew Brees. Whoever drafts Green will be getting a great tight end/wide receiver and if Green develops he could quite possibly be the next Jimmy Graham.
