Former NFL Star Junior Seau Reportedly Shot Dead At Home

By Riley Schmitt

There is some tragic news to report at this hour.  Former NFL star Junior Seau has been found dead at his home, according to reports from TMZ and other outlets.  The 43 year old was a star linebacker in the league for many years.

Seau finished up his career with the New England Patriots but was best known for his time as a San Diego Charger.  Seau was one of the best to ever play linebacker and was a perennial Pro Bowler.  The Pro Bowl is a bit of joke, but Seau was deserving of going every single year.  His play was fantastic and he set an example on and off the field for every young player in the league.

This is certainly tragic.  No one is 100 percent sure what happened and nothing is 100 percent confirmed at this time.  However, the general feeling is that Seau was involved in some sort of dispute that led to his death.  We are still trying to piece everything together, but nothing is concrete right now.

Seau will be missed in the football world.  He knew a lot about the game and was incredibly insightful.  We are worse off for having him involved in this awful incident.  We will have to wait and see what exactly went on is his home this morning.  It can not be good and I hope that we are able to resolve it soon.

Seau leaves behind an ex-wife and three kids.  Hopefully none of the mentioned saw the alleged incident today.

UPDATE:  Seau sent “I love you” messages to his kids and ex-wife Tuesday.  He died of a gunshot wound to the chest.  This allows his brain to be studied for concussion issues, a la Dave Duerson.
