Cam Newton recently closed on a $1.6 million uptown condo in The Trust Building, sources tell NewsChannel 36 anchor Bobby Sisk. The news was first reported last Friday by the Charlotte Business Journal.
The 3-bedroom, 3.5 bathroom condo has 3,200 square feet, and invcludes membership to the Charlotte Athletic Club, and a rooftop pool.
Newton joins fellow neighbors in the complex Michael Jordan and former Bobcat Boris Diaw as owners in the building. The building also comes fully furnished, and Newton signed it through the listing agent Shane McDevitt who is with the McDevitt Agency.
Newton has had as excellent as off-season as he had during the season. During the season he threw for more passing yards than any rookie ever, surpassing Peyton Manning’s rookie year record, and Newton ran for more touchdowns than any quarterback in NFL history. Newton also won NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year and was selected to the Pro Bowl after Eli Manning booked his ticket to the Super Bowl. The Panthers finished 6-10 overall, but it was due more to their woeful offense than anything that Newton and the offense did. Newton has said that he wants to keep his turnovers down this year, and thinks his improvement from last season is “off the charts”.
In the off-season, Newton signed advertising deals with UnderArmour and Gatorade. He became UnderArmour’s first individual athlete that they built an advertising campaign around, and with Gatorade Newton joins a list that can be counted on one hand of players Gatorade has sponsored. Newton now has the new digs to accompany his stellar on the field stats, and hopefully he can take it to the next level next year.
