Washington Redskins visit Naval Station Norfolk
The Washington Redskins made an appearance at Norfolk Naval Base today as part of the Redskins 80th Anniversary ‘Thank You Tour.’
The crowd got a chance to get some autographed material from towels to footballs, while others got their jerseys signed. I had the chance to ask Allen one question on the fly about his thoughts on Robert Griffin III and while speechless at one point, he said he was “impressive.”
Also in attendance was Amanda Mitchell, Host of “Inside the Redskins” on NBC- 4.
Outside, the Redskins took some shots in front of their tour bus. When asked to give the traditional “Go Navy, Beat Army” battle cry in honor of the annual Army- Navy game, Allen said with a laugh, “Understand that Robert Griffin III, both of his parents were Army.”
But in good spirits he smiled and said, “You guys ready? Go Navy! Beat Army!” Last year the Navy beat Army 27-21, extending their win streak to 10.
The “Thank You Tour” supplements a year-long celebration of the franchise’s 80th anniversary. Traveling to locations across the state, the tour features current players, former players, and cheerleaders. The Redskins have always been a very public team, from the Redskins Ambassadors to the players; you get 100 percent interaction and participation from each person.
According to their website, the Redskins will also be making stops at the following places this weekend: Kings Dominion-16000 Theme Park Way, Doswell, Va. 23047, Saturday, June 9, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Richmond Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival-Richmond Raceway Complex,600 E. Laburnum Avenue Richmond, Va. 23222, Saturday, June 9 from 2-4 p.m.
Put some sunscreen on and support the Redskins Nation.
