Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson made his way into the headlines this weekend after being jailed for resisting arrest at a Houston nightclub. Well thanks to smart phones, AP’s arrest was partially caught on camera.
Certainly not the greatest quality arrest video ever, but I think it paints a picture of the situation.
Peterson has tweeted a couple of times since his arrest:
“‘A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.'”
“Thank you for waiting for the facts. Truth will surface.”
The Vikings have stated only that they “are aware of the situation and are gathering more information.”
This situation is just overall shocking to me. Everything that I’ve ever heard about Adrian Peterson’s character has always been good, and this is the first negative incident I can recall.
Like AP has requested though, I will hold back judgement until all the facts are in.
I really don’t care either way. My opinion of AP the football player, and AP the person will not change. So he had a few drinks and got into it with a bouncer, and then proceeded to lose his cool and was arrested… It happens, people make mistakes.
Bouncers don’t exactly have a reputation for being the coolest guys in world.
I will admit that it looks bad for AP and the Vikings organization, and it’s not a good example to set for young fans, but it could be worse. I’m confident that AP will come out of this just fine.
