Terrell Owens has received a great deal of criticism over his career in the National Football League.
One thing can be said about him though and that is that he has never received the off-the-field publicity that players such as Randy Moss, Albert Haynesworth, and Michael Vick have.
That’s all changing though.
According to a report by WSBTV.com, free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens owes about $20,000 in child support payments. He did not show up to his child support hearing in Fulton County on Thursday. His hearing was rescheduled for next Thursday, July 19th, and if he misses that hearing, he could go to jail for the first time.
Now, in my opinion, there’s about a 99 percent chance that Owens doesn’t end up in jail, perhaps higher. That’s how it always happens with these high-profile athletes.
If Donte Stallworth can kill a man while driving drunk and serve just 24 days in prison, and if Roger Clemens can get out of going to jail after lying under oath about using steroids, then there’s no way that Owens will go to jail for failing to pay child support payments. I would love it if he did though.
