NFL Rumors: Washington Redskins: Hulk Hogan Wants Adam Carriker To Wrestle?

By Ricky Allen

Washington Redskins DE Adam Carriker would have no problems entering the world of professional wrestling.

Carriker, who had a combined 34 tackles last season, co-hosts a pro wrestling show called “4th & Pain” alongside Chuck Carroll.

On Football News Now, co-host Carroll reported that Carriker, the other host of the show,  had the chance to go backstage during a TNA Impact Wrestling taping and met “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan.

That’s just cool already. I can remember where I was sitting the day Hulk joined The New World Order on World Championship Wrestling – A move that I consider one of Wrestling History’s greatest moments.

Anyway, according to Carriker, Hogan sounded quite interested in bringing him onboard:

“Well, you know I’m young,” Carriker said, thinking Hogan was joking around.

As it turns out Hogan wasn’t joking at all.

“He stopped dead in his tracks. And he goes, ‘Well how old are you?’ ” Carriker continued. “And I go, ‘I’m 28 and I just signed a four-year deal with the Redskins. Let there be no confusion I am a football player first. Plain and simple I’m a football player who has a radio show talking about wrestling and football. But I am a football player first.”

Now, let me tell you why I think Carriker would have a great wrestling career.

  • 1. Look at that face! Dude could easily be the next Kane.  No disrespect intended, but Carriker’s face is very intense, even when he smiles. He would do well as a heel (bad guy) in the business. I can imagine him powerbombing someone with no worries at all.
  • 2. Physique: 6-6 and 305? Put Carriker in the midst of John Cena and Triple H and folks will think he’s a wrestler anyway.
  • 3. The scruffy beard: Carriker has the wrestling beard for the business. Look at Edge, Triple H, Hulk Hogan–All the greats have scruffy beards.

Carriker, I’m not saying leave the Washington Redskins anytime soon because you’re a valuable player to the team, but, when retirement does come (or a Wrestlemania moment like Lawrence Taylor hadjust a little better) I’d say go for it–And send me tickets.  A member of the Redskins Nation in a TNA ring? Who would miss that?
