Carolina Panthers Trade Jeff Otah To New York Jets For Draft Pick

Jeff Otah is going to give New York Jets fans something to cheer about this coming season.  The team acquired the tackle from the Carolina Panthers for a draft pick.  This trade means that Wayne Hunter is no longer starting and Jets fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Very smart move by the Jets to make sure their quarterbacks do not end up getting killed.  Jeff Otah is very good at his job and should make Jets fans forget about the woes of the offensive line for a little bit.  He is not a cure all but he is certainly a step in the right direction.

This move is kind of weird from the stance of the Panthers, but they must have thought Jeff Otah had done his job for them and that a pick could be work better for them in the future.  The Jets are certainly happy to take Jeff Otah.  There are very few times when you can get a starting tackle for just a draft pick.  Normally guys like that have to be taken decently high in the draft.

So ends the Hunter era, which is bad for opponents and great for the Jets.  He wasn’t exactly very good at his job.  Jeff Otah certainly makes Hunter look like a giant scrub.  There is nothing wrong with that for Jets fans.  Hunter might be best as a backup who only has to play in extreme emergencies.

Great move for the Jets and the health of their fans.
