Tight end Brent Celek suffered a mild sprain in his right knee during the team practice.
Celek caught a pass during the early portion of the first full-squad practice of training camp, but left soon after. Celek was later seen walking out of the locker room at Lehigh University wearing a wrap around his knee.
Celek entered camp completely healthy. This offseason, he underwent hip surgery and had a sports hernia repaired. After a slow start last season, Celek finished strong, catching 53 passes for 738 yards and five touchdowns in the final 11 games.
The Eagles had ideas about bringing in another tight end to push backup Clay Harbor. They recently worked out free agent Visanthe Shiancoe on Tuesday, but the 32-year-old decided to sign with the Patriots later that day. Jeremy Shockey, another free agent, remains unsigned.
Harbor and Brett Brackett filled in for Celek with the first team for the rest of practice.
The team returns to it’s two-a-day practices and will wear full pads and be allowed to hit for the first time on Saturday.
