He said, “He’s probably right now, the worst quarterback in our division. He hasn’t taken a snap,” according to the Washington Post. “He has that title until he takes a snap and goes out and proves he’s something.”
Saying that RG3 is the worst QB in the NFC East right now is like saying Peyton Manning was the 2011 NFL MVP. Think about it: Without him, the Indianapolis Colts crashed and burned with no survivors.
In other words, Hall is a realist. He calls it how he sees it. Has everyone forgotten that RG3 hasn’t taken one snap in the NFL? While we’re all happy and elated to have the Heisman Trophy winner, the fact remains he is unproven in the NFL. To read the comments made by Hall is to first understand completely what he meant by it. His words can easily be taken out of context and blown up into something that was never there in the first place.
Think about it: This is the same guy that said on 106.7 The Fan’s LaVar and Dukes that RG3 is the “Prince of D.C.” I doubt his feelings have changed since then, even though I said his comments were somewhat premature.
If there’s one thing the Washington Redskins need right now is the ability to keep their expectations at a common sense level. The only thing Hall did was make everyone think for a moment. Everyone speaks of the talent that RG3 has, and his recent stints at practice has surely won over the team’s confidence in his abilities. However, there is still Week 1. There is still the reality of looking over at a New Orleans Saints defense that has been to a Super Bowl…and won.
They’ll be looking back over the line at a quarterback with the world on his shoulders, and they’ll be waiting for the moment they can prove him to be suspect.
It is then RG3’s moment of arrival into the NFL will commence, and then we’ll all see just how good he really is. So yeah, of course he’s the worst QB in the NFL right now—guy’s got no stats.
