Colt McCoy has fallen out of favor with the Cleveland Browns and the latest NFL rumors have the former starting quarterback getting cut or traded. One team has been rumored around McCoy the entire time and it appears that they still are. The Green Bay Packers could be in the market for a guy to backup Aaron Rodgers and McCoy just might be that guy.
The Packers currently have Graham Harrell as the number two quarterback. He has the confidence of the coaching staff but not a lot of people think he could be the guy to step in if there is an injury. McCoy has starting experience and would probably a better bet to fill in for a couple games.
This move is still a long shot but it makes a lot of sense for both parties. For whatever reason, McCoy is not going to be counted on in Cleveland. The Packers are known as one of the best teams in the league at developing quarterbacks. If they put McCoy in their quarterback school, the results could be fantastic. They might even up developing another trade chip to use in the future.
If a move were to happen, it would probably happen sometime in the next couple of weeks. Teams are getting ready to cut down rosters and if the Packers dangle a conditional draft pick, it might be enough to get a deal done. Then again, they could just wait to see if the Browns let McCoy go for nothing.
