Last night, in the New York Giants third preseason game, they fell to the Chicago Bears 20-17. Yes the second string offense got shut out in the second half. The first string offense and defense looked a lot better. Let’s take a look at some observations from last night.
Ramses Barden- Barden may have saved his roster spot last night. Barden had three catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. Barden put a really nice move on Charles Tillman to get into the endzone. Barden needed a strong performance in this game and he got it. We’ll see if he survives the first week of cuts.
Eli Manning- Manning hadn’t played that well all preseason. That is until last night. Manning went 17-21 149 yards and one touchdown. It was good to see him get in a rhythm and he looked comfortable in the pocket. He may not play in the preseason finale on Wednesday, so it was good to see him look good in possibly his final tuneup for the season.
David Wilson- Wilson showed why he was a first round pick. Wilson had 49 yards rushing and 26 yards receiving, most of it on the first drive in the first quarter. Wilson showed a lot of toughness and ability to run through people. Look for him to get the ball a good amount this season with Ahmad Bradshaw.
Don’t look for any of the big guys to play in the final game on Wednesday. The team needs to keep everyone as fresh and healthy as possible for the opener. It will be a big test for some of the players fighting for roster spots though.
