Chicago Bears Begin Cuts, Send WR Johnny Knox to PUP List
The Chicago Bears start making moves and cuts official today. As the deadline to get the roster down to 75 players is tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. central. We heard about some moves yesterday, but the Bears announced them today. Here they are:
The Bears officially placed safety Brandon Hardin on injured reserve with the neck injury. I wrote an article up yesterday saying the Bears will place Hardin on the IR. If you don’t remember, Hardin injured his neck making a tackle against the Washington Redskins last Saturday.
The Bears also officially placed WR Johnny Knox on the PUP list. Knox, at the earliest, can’t return until after week 6. Knox is recovering from spinal fusion surgery. There’s still a great chance, Knox will miss all of the 2012 season. If I had to guess, I say Knox will miss the whole year. There’s no reason to rush him back into the lineup and the Bears finally have depth at WR.
Those were the majors moves the Bears made official today, but minors ones were made too: The Bears…:
Waived WR Chris Summers
Waived WR Terriun Crump
Waived S Trevor Coston
Waived DE Derek Walker
Waived DE Thaddeus Gibson
Waived QB Matt Blanchard
Waived RB Harvey Unga
BWaived LB KC Asiodu
Waived/Injured LB Adrien Cole
Waived/Injured OL Nick Peischel
Terminated the contract of DL John McCargo
Any of the players can be signed to the practice squad, but if only no team picks them up. The only one that cannot be added to the practice squad is John McCargo.
The Bears’ roster now stands at 75 players and the next rounds of cuts will be the final cuts of whom will make the team.
