Vontae Davis has a ton of talent but he has also had some issues. Those issues apparently do not bother the Indianapolis Colts as the team has agreed to trade a second round pick to the Miami Dolphins for the talented cornerback.
Colts owner Jim Irsay was tweeting about a trade for the last few weeks and this looks to be the move he was talking about. Other people were thinking it was going to be a huge move, but this is a move that can help the team instantly. They need secondary help like no other and Davis is a great corner when he plays up to his potential.
He very rarely plays up to his potential. Lots of talent but I’m not exactly sure he thinks everything through. He should be a good guy for the Colts but he has to get used to a rebuilding team. I guess Miami is not in much better shape but the Colts could be even worse off, at least for this season.
It will take some time for the Colts to return to their former glory but they are starting to get some pieces at key spots. It is a passing league so you need to have a guy who could be a lockdown corner. Davis is potentially one of those guys, which is why this move makes some sense.
As for Miami, they simply need picks to get the whole rebuilding stage started. It is going to be some rough times for them in the coming years, but this move might help them recover sooner rather than later.
