Is Adewale Ojomo The Next Great New York Giants Pass Rusher?
New York Giants undrafted defensive end Adewale Ojomo has had an impressive training camp. He’s had three sacks in the past two preseason games. He’s 6’4” and 270 lbs. Could he be the next pass rusher?
Ojomo is trying to catch on as one of the backup defensive lineman. He made it through the first round of cuts today. He played defensive tackle in college as well would could help him be an interesting part of the Giants NASCAR package. He only had 1.5 sacks last year but that may be because he had to play inside.
Ojomo seems to have a lot of swagger and confidence for a rookie. He’ll fit right in on that defensive line. He’s also had a good amount of practice time this week with Jason Pierre-Paul and now Osi Umenyiora missing some time due to injury.
Said Ojomo, “I did it the week before, I did it this past week and I’m going to do it again this week.”
Whether Ojomo makes the final roster remains to be seen. I think a part of him making the team may have to do with some of their injuries in the secondary if they need to take extra bodies there.
Adrian Tracy’s hamstring injury may help him make a roster spot. If not the Giants need to hope if they waive him they can put him back on the practice squad.
Ojomo could be the next great pass rusher. Or he could be just another guy who had a great training camp and didn’t pan out when the bright lights came on. Only time will tell.
