Jacksonville Jaguars Trim Roster To 75

By Joey Farbo

The Jacksonville Jaguars have completed their first wave of cuts on their way to their final 53-man roster.

The most notable among the Jaguars cuts were cornerback Ashton Youboty, quarterback Nathan Enderle, wide receiver Chastin West and running back DuJuan Harris.

The Jaguars also cut lineback Nate Bussey, cornerback Mike Holmes, tackle Dan Hoch and linebacker Donovan Richard.

The Jaguars also placed several players in the injured reserve list to trim their active roster.

Among the players the Jaguars placed in the injured reserve list were center John Estes (knee), guard Drew Nowak (foot), guard Jason Spitz (ankle) and tight end Matt Veldman (knee).

These injuries leave the Jaguars extremely thin at the interior offensive line positions and may lead general manager Gene Smith to go out and make a move to shore up their depth at that position.

The Jaguars also waived/injured fullback Brock Bolen (knee), if he clears waivers then he will go on the Jaguars’ injured reserve list.

The Jaguars also placed two players on the physically unable to perform list. Linebacker Clint Session (concussions) and defensive end John Chick (knee) will both be eligible to play after week six, but it still remains unknown whether either will be able to return to the field this season.

Current holdout Maurice Jones-Drew does not currently count towards the Jaguars roster number because the team placed him on the reserve/did not report list.

The Jaguars have one more preseason game this Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons to assess their roster and get down to the final 53-man roster before they open the regular season on September 9 against the Minnesota Vikings.
