  • OT Kevin Murphy
  • LB Corey Paredes
  • OG Austin Pasztor
  • DE Nick Reed
  • C Quentin Saulsberry
  • TE Mickey Shuler
  • RB Jordan Todman

Surprise Cuts?

The team really doesn’t need Rosenfels. Besides being a veteran quarterback presence to mentor Christian Ponder, he really didn’t have a role with the team anymore. The Vikings feel comfortable with youngster McLeod Bethel-Thompson as their third string QB, as he looked decent in the preseason.

Carr is by far the biggest shocker to me. The entire off-season he was rumored to be in contention for the No. 3 cornerback spot, and was considered the favorite by most. As of a few days ago, he was still penciled in that spot. He even started the third preseason game, albeit because of an injury, but he was the next man up regardless. So what changed? There must be more to the story, unless the team is just deciding to go young with Josh Robinson.

Obviously much more will unfold in the upcoming days, as the team will sign 8 more players to it’s practice squad.

Even though some of the cuts don’t make sense initially, the reality is that none of the guys cut today, were likely to be long-term difference makers. You have to think big picture, and realize that GM Rick Spielman is likely plotting as we speak.
