With today being roster cutdown day in the NFL, there may be some trades that are made. Instead of out and out cutting someone, they may trade a player from a position they have a lot of depth in for a draft pick or a player that they need to fit another position. The New York Giants may be one of those teams. They have some holes that they may look to fill from outside the organization.
Some spots they could look to fill are offensive line, defensive tackle and cornerback. All three are positions that the Giants have some injury questions and could use some extra depth.
At corner, Prince Amukamara is dealing with a leg injury. Terrell Thomas may be put on IR and then activated with the new rule coming into effect. Along the offensive line, Will Beatty has been dealing with a back injury all camp and the Giants have had to shuffle their offensive line since last season. Sean Locklear will probably be starting in his spot on Wednesday. Marcus Thomas was released today and Shaun Rogers may be put on IR. Marvin Austin has missed a good chunk of training camp due to injury and he could be put on the short-term IR if Thomas isn’t. That leaves them with Linval Joseph, Rocky Bernard and rookie Markus Kuhn.
The Giants, like every team have to get to 53 players. Don’t be surprised if the team makes a move to get another player from outside the organization.
