Tennessee Titans Reach 53 Man Roster Limit

With the additional releases of defensive tackle Zach Clayton, and safety Aaron Francisco the Tennessee Titans have reached the 53-man limit required by the NFL.

The team has also added players to the injured reserve list. Defensive end Dave Ball has a concussion, Leger Douzable with his shoulder injury, and outside guard Ryan Durand suffered a lower extremity fracture this past Thursday against the New Orleans Saints. Cornerback Terrence Wheatley suffered a hamstring injury during training camp. Kevin Malast, a linebacker, with an ankle injury also joins the IR.

The Tennessee Titans were able to avoid using the NFL’s newly placed injured reserve policy with all five of these players.

One of the players taking a deep sigh of relief today is running back Darius Reynaud, who was just forced to evacuate his family to Nashville Tennessee and out of New Orleans due to all of the severe weather that they are seeing.

With the final numbers in place the Titans have a much better idea of what their season will be like. That is not to say though, that more cuts won’t happen over the weekend, or trades will take place. Another thing to remember is that wide receiver Kenny Britt does not count towards the 53 man roster while he is suspended, so there is at least one cut yet to come.

The practice squad should have a lot of good takes coming out this year such as Lamar Divens, James Kirkendoll, Michael Preston, D. J. Woods.

The next week will consist of incorporating more little things from the playbook onto the field and getting things situated for the home and season opener against the New England Patriots Sunday, September 9, at noon CDT.
