San Francisco 49ers Sign Eight To Practice Squad
This afternoon, the San Francisco 49ers signed eight players to their practice squad. In addition to the signings, three others were picked up by other teams.
Signed were LB Michael Wilhoite, LB Cam Johnson, S Michael Thomas, T Kenny Wiggins, T Al Netter, DT Tony Jerod-Eddie, DT Matt Masifilo and WR Nathan Palmer.
Person, a seventh round pick in 2011, was on the roster, yet did not see any playing time. Owusu was impressive in the preseason and had five receptions for 43 yards and a long of 18. Reuland had the most receptions for the 49ers in the preseason with nine that went for 73 yards and a long of 16.
The 49ers kept Wilhoite, who had nine tackles. Johnson made two tackles in limited playing time as he was dealing with an injury. Thomas had six tackles and a sack. Wiggins and Netter played well when on the field and add depth at the offensive line. Jerod-Eddie played well in the last preseason game against the Chargers, getting good pressure on the quarterback and getting three total tackles. Masifilio had seven tackles and he also looked good in the preseason finale. Palmer had six catches for 93 yards, a long of 51 and a touchdown.
With the roster set at 53 and the practice squad additions the 49ers are now set for their opener on Sept. 9, a trip to Lambeau Field to face Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
