Tennessee Titans Roster Tightens up for Season Opener Against New England Patriots

It’s less than a week until the Tennessee Titans open their season at home at LP field against the New England Patriots. The game will begin at Noon CT and will be aired on CBS television.

Over the weekend, the Titans had to make numerous hard decisions as far as cutting the roster down to 53 players. Some players though, like Brandon Barden, Collin Mooney, Michael Preston, Zach Clayton and Tracy Wilson were lucky and got signed to the Titans’ practice squad. Today, the Titans added running back Darren Evans and wide receiver Vidal Hazelton.

Yesterday, the Titans worked out defensive end Jarius Wynn, who was released from the Green Bay Packers last week. Today, defensive linemen Jay Richardson and Deuce Lutui will work out with the team. Richardson has experience with the Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets.

According to the Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt, the team doesn’t have any plans to sign Wynn right away. However, a contract could be in the future for Richardson depending on how things play out to start the season.

Everything seems to be falling in place with the team. Ryan Mouton was cleared to play today and Mike Munchak said in a press conference earlier that almost all injured players should be cleared throughout the week as well.

Darius Reynaud, whom a week ago wasn’t sure if he would have a spot on the final roster, will become the team’s new return man thanks to hard work and a Marc Mariani injury.

Jake Locker is looking as solid as ever and Munchak and the rest of the Titans’ coaching staff said they wouldn’t ask for anything else. He will have a lot of weapons to use and they are confident that the young quarterback will be able to guide the team to a great season.
