New Orleans Saints wide receiver Adrian Arrington missed practice today with some soreness in his knee that required surgery. This has to be frustrating for Arrington considering that he just returned to practice on Monday and even practiced yesterday.
As a result of missing practice Arrington will likely miss the Saints’ regular season home opener against the Washington Redskins. Arrington was hoping and even saying that he would be back for week one but it looks like Saints fans won’t be seeing him until at least week two.
I think it would be a wise decision to hold Arrington out of the regular season opener. Furthermore, I feel like Arrington might have come back too quickly, I mean he just got his knee surgically repaired and that takes time to heal.
Arrington’s health has been a concern since training camp but the Saints definitely believe in this guy. After spending seasons on the practice squad and turning down offers from other teams the Saints finally rewarded Arrington and gave him a spot on the 53-man roster.
Once Arrington can come back and prove he is healthy I think that he will be able to contend for the number four wide receiver position. As it stands Joseph Morgan is the Saints’ current number four receiver on the depth chart but Arrington could bump him once he is healthy.
Arrington has invested a lot with the Saints and it is very unfortunate that he suffered another setback on his road to recovery. Arrington just needs to give his knee time to heal and then once he can prove he is healthy he will be a big contributor to the Saints’ stellar offense.
