NFL Rumors: Should The New York Giants Bring Back Deon Grant?
The New York Giants need some help at the cornerback position. Michael Coe played well in week one but was knocked out due to a hamstring injury. Prince Amukamara is still injured and Jayron Hosley is a rookie and played primarily special teams in week one. Justin Tryon was put out there and the results were less than desirable. Should the Giants make a call to Deon Grant’s agent and bring him back? Grant thought the Giants were going to during this summer, however that wasn’t the case. Maybe now they should?
Antrel Rolle is probably the team’s third best corner right now. The Giants secondary last season was better in nickel when they went to a three safety look. Rolle can cover tight ends in the slot and still has enough speed to cover a speedy slot receiver. The players were also used to that three safety look, so maybe bringing that back can bring some familiarity to them.
The Dallas Cowboys used and abused Tryon as soon as he was put in the game. Corey Webster didn’t have his best game either, but he’s a steady player and he can make the adjustments to bounce back.
Yes it’s one game, and a lot of the ineffectiveness may be due to a lack of pass rush that the Giants had this week. Also, the conditioning isn’t quite where it needs to be either just yet.
The good thing is, is that the Giants have 10 days to go over what worked and what didn’t. Look for the Giants to make some adjustments and figure out what they should do.
