The New Orleans Saints Will March Over Washington Redskins
The first full weekend of the NFL season is just a couple of days away and the New Orleans Saints are set to take on the Washington Redskins. Unfortunately for Robert Griffin III, he’s going to have to suffer the wrath of the Saints for his first regular season game in the NFL.
While many have been focusing on the Saints’ issues with suspensions, the front office has low-key continued to build their roster for success. Even with Jonathan Vilma out for the season, they have replaced him efficiently.
Your NFL debut is something that you never forget as an athlete in the league and Griffin III will likely get crushed. Griffin III is going to have a great rookie season but with the depth the Saints have, I just don’t think he stands a chance.
There will be an emotional tie to this game for the Saints. They had so much going on during the offseason, that they should come into this game fired up. The Saints have to show the world that just because some may be against them, doesn’t mean they aren’t still one of the best in the league. Saints will have a revolving door of coaches this season, which is another reason for them to play harder than they ever have.
I’m sure there is no one on that roster that doesn’t feel what Roger Goodell did to them was extreme. Goodell used the Saints as an example for anyone that thinks bounties in this league are okay. It’s safe to say, that with Goodell’s punishment on the Saints, he may have effectively ended bounties in this league.
You have to remember that the Saints recruited Steve Spagnuolo as their defensive coordinator during the offseason. One of their best moves. Considering they lost their best defensive player in Vilma, Spagnuolo will definitely upgrade the defense to another level. The amount of pressure that he’s going to force his guys to give to the Redskins will be something we glorify. This is why I say the Saints will run all over Griffin III, he’s not going to be able to keep up with the Saints’ defensive schemes.
There’s no doubt in my mind that the Saints will deliver a week 1 win. They are just too strong on both sides of the ball and the Redskins don’t have enough to stop them.
