First Half Update: Matthew Stafford Throws Three Interceptions

By Brian Cote

The Detroit Lions are down by a score of 13-10 to the St. Louis Rams at halftime. The Ford Field crowd and Lion fans watching from home have to be stunned at what they are seeing.

Matthew Stafford has thrown three questionable interceptions. It almost seems as though that the Lions QB is playing with a reckless abandon in the first half.

The first of Stafford’s interceptions came with the Lions deep in Rams territory at the three yard line. Stafford tried to force a ball into double coverage in the end zone and Rams rookie CB Janoris Jenkins came away with the pick.

If the Lions continue to throw the ball all over the field without caring about the reprecussions they will end up losing this game. Stafford needs to protect the ball more in the second half and he has to make more efficient passes based on more effective reads.

This has been a disappointing start to the NFL season for the Lions to say the least.
