Indianapolis Colts Trying to Remain Perfect At Home Against Minnesota Vikings

Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

The Indianapolis Colts will host the Minnesota Vikings in their 2012 home opener this Sunday. The Colts are coming off of a disappointing 41-21 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bears in Week 1. Indianapolis made some costly mistakes in turning the ball over too much and showing they still need improvements at every position.

Luckily for the Colts, every team other than the Houston Texans lost in their division so they really didn’t fall too far behind in that aspect.

One thing the Colts will try and keep going Sunday is their home perfection against the Vikings. Minnesota has traveled to play Indianapolis nine times and have yet to win at Indy. This will be the first regular season game the Vikings have played in Lucas Oil Stadium. The nine defeats all happened in the old dome.

Both teams are in rebuilding mode and I think the Colts will extend the Vikings winless streak in Indianapolis to 10 games. The biggest factor will be taking care of the ball and shutting down the Vikings rushing attack with Adrian Peterson.

Also the Colts will be counting on Andrew Luck to have a bounce back performance after a disappointing start to his NFL career. He should find some success against the Vikings pass defense that gave up 242 yards last week to Blaine Gabbert and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Luck threw for over 300 yards and a TD but also threw for 3 INTs as he made his debut against the stingy Bears defense.
